MEDICAL MASSAGE IN CHUR

During a medical massage, the aim is to relieve and release acute and chronic tension. as well as physical complaints.

Your therapist will first conduct an anamnesis to understand the problem. Through this, a precise treatment plan and procedure can be created, that precisely targets the complaints. On the basis of the anamnesis, the therapist can determine which techniques and methods are suitable for your problem. Techniques that are often used in medical massage are classical massage, deep tissue massage, fascia therapy, trigger point therapy, and the Dorn method. Your therapist will also advise you after the treatment on whether and how many more treatments are needed until the problem recognisibly improves.

  • Muscle strains
  • Neck tension
  • Headache
  • Overload of the muscles due to cramping
  • Tennis elbow
  • Golfer’s arm

How does a medical massage help?

A medical massage has a positive effect on the whole system. Of course, the therapist specifically treats the problem in order to improve it. In most cases, however, the treatment is also accompanied by a positive effect on the whole body, as the massage can calm the nervous system and bring the whole body into balance. Here is a list of examples of the different effects of a medical massage.

The medical massage:

  • alleviates/relieves acute and chronic tension
  • increases blood circulation
  • loosens adhesions of the tissue / fascia
  • can loosen scar tissue
  • increases mobility
  • accelerates wound healing
  • relieves headaches and migraines
  • solves trigger points
  • decongests vein & lymph flow
  • stimulates the organs
  • relaxes the muscles and nervous system

When should a medical massage be avoided?

A medical massage should not be used in case of blood clots, fresh scars, inflammation of the skin or rashes, open wounds, and circulatory diseases.

How can I imagine the process of a medical massage at Origin in Chur?

  1. As explained above, the therapist first carries out an anamnesis in order to understand the problem. Based on this, they know which techniques they have to work with to alleviate the symptoms. For your first treatment, the anamnesis may take a little longer (max. 20 minutes). For all further visits, it is then faster, or an anamnesis is no longer needed at all.
  2. After everything has been discussed, the therapist leaves the room for a few minutes. This gives you time to undress and lie down on the massage table.
  3. The therapist comes back and the treatment begins. They might use various techniques to specifically solve your complaints. During the massage, you remain in contact with them about the pressure strength and whether the trigger points are hit.
  4. At the end of the medical massage, the therapist leaves the room again. This gives you a moment to yourself to consciously perceive the after-effects of the massage. When you’re ready, get up from the massage table and dress again.
  5. The therapist will come back as soon as you open the door. Now you discuss whether further treatments are necessary and what can be done in addition to the massage to decrease the pain or eliminate your problem.

How many medical massage treatments are usually needed?

As a rule, it takes one to six sessions for the problem to be effectively treated. The exact number varies and depends on the complaints. If you do not feel any improvement after three treatments, discuss with your therapist whether another massage therapist or specialist is better suited to your problem.
