AVAILABLE APPOINTMENTS

Zoo

Zurich Zoo is open all year round from March to October from 9 am – 6 pm and from November to February from 9 am – 5 pm. It is easily accessible by public transport (tram line 6 from the main station and bus lines 39 and 751). The number of paid parking spaces in the immediate vicinity is limited, but there are plenty of spaces further out. Tickets can also be purchased in advance online via the zoo’s website.

The zoo is divided into several areas that reflect habitats in different climate zones of the earth. As the zoo attaches importance to species-appropriate husbandry, the number of animal species was reduced in the past in favour of keeping them in larger enclosures. As a result, animals can now be observed in their natural environment at Zurich Zoo.

The main attraction is the Masoala rainforest with over 50 animal and 500 plant species of the tropical zone. The visitor can view a complete eco-system from a treetop walkway, among other things. In the elephant park, eight Asian elephants can be seen among other animal species. With a bit of luck, the elephants can be observed swimming under water through special windows. The Pantanal complex shows mammals and birds in a replica of the South American wetland. Other themed worlds are the Mongolian Steppe and the Australia complex.

In the aquarium, 85 species of fish are presented in different habitats in enlarged tanks. The complex also includes an enclosure with penguins and the exotarium with crocodiles, snakes and lizards.

The Zoolino area is particularly interesting for children, as animals such as alpacas and pygmy goats can be stroked and fed here.

The zoo offers its visitors exhibitions on the topic of nature and species conservation spread throughout the zoo grounds. Here you can also find information about the participation in several breeding programmes.

Other facilities include a visitor centre, shops, four restaurants, snack stands and several play and picnic areas. You can get a first overview at the visitor centre near the main entrance. This is also the starting point for guided tours for which a fee is charged and for which advance booking is required.

The facilities and paths are barrier-free with a few exceptions. In addition, the zoo provides wheelchairs for a deposit and organises special tours for disabled people.
An interactive zoo map can be downloaded via the zoo app for better orientation. In addition to detailed information on each animal, you can also find the time of the next feeding or simply the shortest route to the next toilet.

Zurich Zoo is the ideal place to spend a full day with the whole family, thanks to its partly spectacular facilities, animal presentations and public feedings, as well as the many recreational areas.
