MANUAL LYMPHATIC DRAINAGE IN USTER
Lymphatic drainage uses gentle grips and strokes to help the swollen tissue to release its swelling. These often occur due to edema, trauma or after operations.
Oedema is the accumulation of fluid and associated swelling. They are caused by nutrients being transported into the cells and tissues by the blood. Normally, the excess fluid is reintegrated into the bloodstream. However, if this is disrupted, for example by the severing of lymphatic vessels during a surgical procedure or an injury, it is conceivable that fluid will accumulate in the tissue and cause oedema. This is particularly common on the arms and legs. Lymphatic drainage supports the process of eliminating the accumulated fluid.

When should lymphatic drainage be performed?
Manual lymphatic drainage has a wide range of possible applications. Sports injuries can also be treated using this method with regular treatment.
Manual lymphatic drainage is also conceivable for venous insufficiency or orthopaedic and traumatological conditions that occur in combination with swelling. It is also useful for burns, whiplash injuries, migraines and similar conditions. In general, however, it is particularly advisable to use regular manual drainage after operations in order to speed up the healing process and minimize swelling.
Manual lymphatic drainage can be particularly helpful for scar tissue, as it stimulates the formation of new lymphatic vessels in severed tissue.
When should drainage treatment not be done?
Manual lymphatic drainage is not recommended in particular in the case of acute thrombosis, untreated malignancies, pronounced cardiac insufficiency, acute septic inflammation, decompensated heart failure, (malignant) tumors, fever, inflammatory processes of unknown origin, erysipelas and cardiac oedema.
However, in the case of chronic inflammation, past thromboses, hypotension, thyroid dysfunction, pregnancy and asthma, manual lymph drainage can be performed under certain precautionary measures. However, prior consultation with a doctor should always be considered.
What is the lymphatic drainage procedure at Origin Massage in Uster?
At the beginning of the session, you and your therapist will make an initial diagnosis together, in which you will discuss the essential details of your health. This discussion, which usually lasts between 5 and 20 minutes, aims to define the therapy goals.
After the discussion, you will be given time and privacy to undress and take a seat on the treatment bench.
The treatment is then carried out according to your individual ideas and needs, and your therapist is always ready to respond to questions or suggestions.
